Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. --------------------
Travelling. It leaves you speechless, Then turns you into a storyteller.

Liverpool Where the river Mersey meets the Irish sea. The city famous for music and football. Once Britain`s gateway to the World. The home of the Scouser / Liverpudlian. The people from a wonderful city.
The Beatles Pop band
Well you can`t visit Liverpool without talking about the Fab4. The Beatles are the most famous pop groups in the world. They were born and bred in the city. As were Gerry and the Pacemakers. Who sang Ferry across the Mersey. One of reason I returned to Liverpool was to take the ferry over to Birkenhead.
Ferry -we took across the Mersey
We stayed 6 nights Saturday 4th September 2021 till Friday 10th in the Dury inn. Which is in the Albert Dock area of the city. Perfect for us.
Albert Dock
The Three Graces consist of the Royal Liver Building, The Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building
Saturday We took the train from Glasgow Central to Liverpool Lime street.Changing at Preston. Then a taxi straight to our hotel. Easy journey. At night we walked along the river bank to see the Beatles Statue and our first view of the Three Graces. Love it,Liverpool
Ferry back to the city
Sunday Ferry across the River Mersey. Over to Birkenhead. The route of the famous Gerry and the Peacemakers song. The town itself has seen bettered days but the Ferry trip was fun.
Southport pier
Monday Southport The seaside town has the oldest iron pier in UK. 1,108 m long makes it the second-longest in the United Kingdom.Only Southend has longer. The main street is Lord street.A lovely place to wander.
Tuesday Chester Easy train journey from Liverpool`s central station this time. Chester is a Former Roman town.We enjoyed a walk along the Roman walls. We had a look at the Amphitheatre and the beutiful Cathedral. All free to visit. .Cool Tudor-style half-timber buildings on the main street. .
Wednesday Beatles Tour My favourite day. After a hearty breakfast we took the Magically Mystery tour.Took us on a Beatles tour of the city. We visited all the famous sites relating to the Fab Four. After the tour we went back to the famous Cavern Club on Mathew street. The singer was good at singing music from the sixties. There is a more in depth look at my Beatles time on a separate web page.
Thursday Blackpool
It was like going back in time.Bingo, rock and fish suppers. Seaside resort that has not moved with the times but some people love it.I actually enjoyed my day.Lots to see and a few beers to enjoy.Like an enjoyable day back in time.
Music is all around us.
Homeward bound Friday. After a short walk along the banks of the Mersey. We had our last look at the Albert dock. We walked up to Lime street to take the train home to Glasgow. With a few hours stop in Preston for a liquid lunch. We were home. Great memories from the Pop capital of the world.
