2024 The Year of Travel
Usually at the end of the year I give out a summary of the years adventures. This year has been crazy. We have visited Morrocco,France,Portugal,Iceland,Germany,Denmark and Spain. All completely different trips. Iceland was first. It was amazing. Never been in the winter so that was different. Waterfalls,glaciers and deadly beaches.

Second trip was to the Northern German Islands. North Frisian Island.
Wild beaches, ferries and great restaurants. A venture into Denmark. Ending up staying in Hamburg and Berlin.

Our third trip so far was to Alcudia on the Spanish Island of Majorca.
Which was nonstop fun with the family. Lovely Beach. Superb hotel.

Spent a lot of the summer showing tourists round Glasgow. Tours by Locals. Also done a few jaunts up north. All very enjoyable.

Germany -Our trip during the European Championships
We could not get tickets for any of Scotland's games. We decided to go over anyway. I travelled over with my son Andrew.
We joined up with my brother-in-law in Buchholz.

Hamburg 2024
Our first full day in Germany started by taking the train into Hamburg city Centre. From there we took the Sbahn to St. Pauli. Where the Holland and Poland fans had congregated. What a wonderful atmosphere.
After a fun day of partying ended with fulling a sleep on the train. Missing our stop. Ticket collector asked us to leave. We had to wait to the next day to get first train home.

After Hamburg we headed to another German city.
Dortmund was buzzing but with hordes of Turkey supporters this time There was a few Georgia fans too. Homeward bound after another great time in Germany.

July 2024
July 4th we went on a different form of transport.
Cruise visiting Portugal,Morrocco and Spain. Easy life. eating, sleeping and visiting amazing places. The journey into Lisbon was special. We took a tuk tuk tour there.

Porto is a cool port. A walking city with a beautiful waterfront.
Put it on your bucket list. Tangier was next. Then we sailed through the
Gibraltar straits. Spotting loads of marine life. Few days later we dock at Barcelona.

Back to Germany in August
1 night in Leipzig,3 nights Regensburg,1 night over the border in the Czech Republic to the city Pilsen. Finishing up 2 Nights Dresden. So we could visit the famous Colditz castle.

13th August Bavaria’s Second Largest Beer Festival
I have been waiting for this day since we booked our flights.
Gäuboden folk festival was magic. We took the train from
Regensburg to the city of Strabling. Great fun night.

Regensburg is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Germany. We were not disappointed. It's stunning.
When someone mentions Pilsen, you immediately think of beer but there is a lot more to the city. Easy flight back to Edinburgh
A month later September 4th
Here I go again. Flying out to Basel Switzerland. For my 7th trip of the year. Basel is a great city. Every places I visit is recorded on the website.

Then travelled on to a small town called Staufen. Which was our base for the next week. First night we took in the local Snail festival.

Today we went into France. Stunning Colmar. We loved the Little Venice district. This was our first venture over the border.

Riquewihr was our next stop on our trip. Back to France. Another great picturesque town. One of the best-preserved medieval towns in France. We enjoyed lunch in La Dime. Very nice.

Thursday 12th September
Strasbourg France today. After a bit of a journey we have made it.
We had Lunch in Petit France. We wandered through the picturesque streets of La Petite France, where half-timbered houses line the canals.

Alan went hiking today so mrs B and me had the day back in in Freiburg. Great city. Good to see it in the sun.

Saturday 14th September Mulhouse. Back over the French Border. Located a few steps from the Cathedral is Gutenberg Square (place Gutenberg).
Thought it was only right to have our last dinner at restaurant connected to our apartment.
