We stayed at Hotel 31 . It was the best deal we could get after weeks of searching the internet. It was clean and handy for the Empire State Building, Times Sq and all the midtown sights.

Empire State building
When we are bored we put Friends on the TV. Friends is a comedy show all about a bunch of young people who stay in a flat in New York. It builds your enthusiasm for a trip to the big apple.
Sad to say the series was actually filmed in Burbank but it does gives you a great feeling for NY.

The Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge connects two great New York City boroughs. Manhattan and Brooklyn. You can have a pleasant walk over it [like we did] or drive/ bike it. Above is my most popular photo of Brooklyn Bridge. It shows the two massive archways.

I am often asked how should I plan my trip to New York. So much to see and do. Everyone is different but most people love every second of their trip.
It is a city you must plan and plan well. You do not want to waste time going from one end of the island to the other. Don`t even bother with the Metro. Helicopter tours are wonderful but not everyone can afford them. The open-top bus is good if you are short of time and want to see as much as possible - go for it.

Uptown-Midtown and Downtown
My advice is to divide the Big Apple into three pieces. When we talk about New York we really mean Manhattan. Most visitors only get as far as the pear-shaped island. Manhattan is 13.4 miles long and 2.3 miles wide at its widest.
So a good pair of trainers are required.

So you have guessed I think walking is the best way to see as much as possible of this famous city. Really feel the atmosphere. Get the buzz and excitement.

The total height of the building, including the lightning rod, is 1,454 feet. The height of the building from the ground to its tip is given as 1,250 feet. Take in New York's most breathtaking views from its open-air observatory. See New York's world-famous skyline as it was meant to be seen—opened until 2am every night.We went up at 9.30 so we could see sparkling lights of Manhattan .

As I said earlier planning is important. Try to get to the main sites early or get ready to join the long line. New York is famous for its food to go. Get your favourite pizza at Little Italy.

Times Square is the most visited place globally with 360,000 pedestrian visitors a day, amounting to over 131 million a year.
We were met with a wall of people but we were on holiday so we were not in a hurry.

New York`s taxi cabs are yellow It is the easiest colour to spot at a distance.
