Welcome to the Black beach
It`s made up of volcanic black sands and smooth pebbles. The sand never dry's out which it means it keeps raven-black colour.
The black sand comes from lava. It flowed from the neighbouring Katla Volcano.

When you are at Reynisfjara watch out for the dangerous waves.
I was fortunate only to get my boots wet. They push further up the beach than you would expect.
These are called sneaker waves, and they appear when you least expect them, even on incredibly still days.
Visitors are advised to never turn their back on the waves, and keep a safe distance of at least 30 meters (100 feet).
