25 de April Bridge/25th April holds the record for the longest suspension bridge in Europe. We loved sailing under the bridge.
You see it in the distance. The excitement builds, the nearer you get to the bridge. You feel you can touch the steel above you.

The picture of the Monument to the Discoveries was taken from the deck of our cruise ship. It stand on the banks of the river Tagus.
It was erected to honour Henry the Navigator. Who stands alongside Kings, Queens, explorers, artists, scientists, cartographers and missionaries.Who were all part Portugal’s history.
Santuario De Cristo Rei
The Idea for The Monument to Christ-King comes from Statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio Brazil.

We loved Praça do Comércio. The main square. It has two main ends.
One end has the river Tagas. The other end has Triumphal arch in Rua Augusta. The site is where the old Royal Palace used to exist before it was destroyed by the earthquake of 1755. The river end was always considered the “door” to Lisbon. Walk through the arch to get to the main shopping area.

We enjoyed a shot of the famous Funicular tram.
The famous elevator is different. An Iron lift takes you up a hill. Cost around 5 euros for a view you can get by walking up some steps.
Fado: The Lisbon Blues. We took in a Fado show while in the city.
Different but not my kind of thing. Food was dull.

The journey starts hills of Graça, and weaves toward the hair-pin alleys of Escolas Gerais, before pulling up to a halt beneath the gorgeous domes of the Estrela Basilica.
Bairro Alto is one of the busiest districts of Lisbon after dark. Locals and travelers pack its narrow streets to hang out outside the area’s countless bars. We enjoyed watching the locals gather round for a dance and singsong. Have a look at video at the bottom of the page.
Queijadas de Sintra cakes are nice. You can get them all over Portugal.
