Over the last ten years I have been travelling east and west,south and north around Europe. One of the highlights have been the mountains.There are all around you.Some climb right through the clouds.

The Alps are a mountain range in the middle of Europe. They are spread over eight countries.
Austria,France,Liechtenstein,Germany,Italy,Monaco,Slovenia and Switzerland. Their astounding beauty.A skyline of rugged peaks and there are some stunning glaciers, crystal clear mountain lakes and even lots of green meadows.

They have the highest peaks in Europe outside of the Caucasus Mountains are located in the Alps. Mont Blanc (4,810 meters), Dufourspitze (4,634 m) and the world-famous Matterhorn (4,478 m) are well known alpine four-thousanders.
The Alps are one of the most famous sights on the continent and perhaps most famed in Switzerland. Yet the stunning Swiss Alps make up less than one-fifth of the entire mountain range. Switzerland has an impressive 208 mountains over 3,000 metres including the towering Matterhorn, the jewel of the Swiss Alps.
The mountains were formed as the African and Eurasian tectonic plates collided. The Alps is a vast mountain system in south central Europe. About 13 million people live in the Alps in over 6,000 communities.

The Alps have so many beautiful area's to visit. You have to spend time in each region so you can soak up the atmosphere, eat delicious food. Meet the local people. as well as photograph the scenery.

Many rivers have their source in the Alps. Melting snow and ice in spring and summer supply water to the rivers and lakes at the foot of the mountains.
