The historic old city centre is where the most well-known tourist attractions are based, such as Belgian's most glorious cathedral, the Cathedral of Our Lady (Kathedraal), which resides on the Groenplaats. Visitors are surprised at how intimate and attractive this part of Antwerp is, appearing as it did many centuries ago and remaining almost unchanged, with numerous cobblestone lanes.
The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal(Cathedral of our Lady) is the highest cathedral in the Low Countries and remains the tallest building in the city.
- Central Station is a railway station designed by Louis Delacenserie that was completed in 1905. It has two monumental neo-baroque façades, a large metal and glass dome (60m/197 ft) and a gilt and marble interior.
