This island has so much to offer.Sadly we only had half a day on Sicily.We were docked at Messina and our tour took us to the base of Mount Etna.

It was our first stop on our 2016 cruise.Many years ago I had visited with my son. That time we saw more of the Italian Island.
Mount Etna will always be the highlight. You can see it from anywhere on the island. It is an active volcano.
There have been a few eruptions since then.

The most famous are the "crateri silvestri", located on the south side of the mountain, near the village of Nicolosi.

This charming resort was another gem during our Sicilian trip. We entered the town gates to find a stunning town in front of us.

There are Greek and Roman monuments to see. There is also an ancient theatre. Which is well worth a visit.
Its magnificent position above the sea has fabulous views of Mount Etna. Taormina has a wonderful setting and well worth a visit. Here are my images from this special town.
