Nuremberg is the second-largest city in the German state of Bavaria.
I have only visited once and only for a day trip. The famous Nuremberg trials took place here. This is where the Nazis responsible for the main atrocities were tried and convicted. This happened in 1946.In the 1930s Nüremberg became a centre of the Nazi Party and in 1935 gave its name to the anti-Semitic Nürnberg decrees. Despite having been severely damaged in World War two, many of the medieval buildings in the Old Town (Altstadt) have been restored to their former glory.

Above Schöner Brunnen. It is a 14th-century fountain next to the town hall and is on the city’s Historical Mile.
The city's skyline is still dominated by the mighty fortress built in around 1140. We enjoyed walking the historical mile to the castle.
