First trip of 2020.My friend G Bee was heading south to the English city of Newcastle .He was going to meet up with his new grandson and the proud mum and dad.He asked us along.
The weather was wet and very windy when we left Glasgow.It got worse and worse.An hour and ten minutes into the journey we got real fright.A car spun from the outside lane into our lane.We think he may have hit something in the road or just lost control. Lucky we were further back or it could have been bad..
Well done Gee Bee for cool head in a dodgy situation.

After checking into our hotel in Washington.Gee Bee drove us
to the Gateshead side of the river Tyne. Here we walked over the Tyne Bridge.Here we get great views of the city centre.Really feel excited about returning to one of my favourite cities.

We took the Metro from Monument station to Whitley bay.
Seeside resort loved by my mum and dad.Sadly the town has seen better days.The famous Spanish city park has been revamped.

The tide was in so we never got to see The two-mile Blue Flag beach.We did get some sea air before the rain belted down.
Then we walked along the front to Cullercoats. Here we had a few drinks in the Queenshead. Friendly bar with good beer.
I enjoyed Cullercoats more than Whitley bay.It had more life about it.

Another trip down to Newcastle. Gee Bee was going down to see his daughter. He asked if I would like to come along.I jumped at a wee trip away. We left 9.30am and stopped at Gretna services for a break. We had to cross country. We went via consett.Which took us through quaint little villages.

We stayed in Washington. A small town not too far from Newcastle.
In the Campanile .A budget hotel next to the motorway. It had seen better days but a good place just to crash.
I had breakfast. It was ok. Staff were friendly but the bar shut at 11.00.lol

Gee bee left me at the Washington Gallerys. Where I took the x1 bus right into the city. Only £2 and took about 20mins.
Drove over the Tyne bridge. It dropped me of at Eldon bus station.

Fron there I walked to St James Park. The home of Newcastle Football club. I enjoyed a wander round the perimeter of the stadium. Then I crossed the road to have a beer in the Strawberry bar. Nice place with friendly staff. Good pint too.
I walked down to the river. It`s great they have a walkway all along the Tyne. Pleasant stroll passed the famous bridges.
Gateshead Millenium bridge put on her light show.
I had dinner at The Quayside. Fish and chips was good. Bar food.
After tea I walked up to the bus staion. Took the x1 back to the Washington.Uber to Champs. Nice bar down from the hotel.
Next day we headed home.
Really good time was had by all.
