Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial life Excellent. Must visit while in Coatbridge.   The Victorian Iron works are special.

My day started with taking the train from Dalmuir to Airdrie. Took around an hour. I picked to go to Airdrie as I visited the town many times. When my gran was alive. She lived in Slamannan. Which is a village not too far away.  

After Airdrie I walked to Coatbridge. Straight forward walk.

New St Andrew's Parish Church Coatbridge.

I had food in the Vulcan. Small breakfast is known as a wee Jimmy by the locals. Large is a Big daddy. Funny but makes sense.
​The woman behind the bar was a star. Really funny. 

NOW down to the highlight. Summerlee Museum.
​When you walk through the famous steel gate you feel like you are going back in time.

Above Built in 1991–1992, the miners' row shows typical workers homes from the 1880.

Above the Cludgie. Outside toilet. Some houses still had these in closes during the 80s. We had an outside lou during our times in the 70s. 
The conditions were not good for the worker in the smelt. The video at the bottom of the page will explain life in the yards.

I was slightly taller than the Canal horse.Just. 

Dont forget to go upstairs. The museum is cool. I loved the film.
​Its brilliant it is free to enter.

I had a Beer in the Segton bar. In the fountain area of Coatbridge. Then train home. Really had a good day out.
​Thank you Airdrie and Coatbridge. May have seen better days but I still enjoyed my time in the towns.
