What is #Scotlandhour ?
#Scotlandhour is online to support Scottish Tourism.
At present it`s a monthly chat on Twitter. Where to stay, where to eat , what to do in Bonnie Scotland . A chance for travellers to plan a visit to Scotland. It has now been live since August 2011 and getting more popular every month.
Hopefully it will become a valuable marketing tool for our country. No one else has used Twitter to promote tourism.
When is it on? Last Wednesday of the month 9 till 10.

Five years on
Wow it`s five years old. My crazy idea which has grown into a valuable tool for promoting Scottish tourism. I had been on Twitter for many years when I came up with the idea of showing my images of Scotland on Twitter. Susan McNaughton joined me on our hour of tweeting about Scotland every Saturday.
So#Scotlandhour was born. Few weeks later a team of Scottish tourism experts met up at Glasgow`s Kelvingrove Art Gallery and decided to join the team.
The Group has expertise in many different area`s of
Scotland.
Aileen Lamb - St Andrews and Edinburgh
Lesley Judge - marketing and online communications for Scottish tourism businesses
Loch Lomond,Loch Ness and Edinburgh.
Susan McNaughton - Edinburgh and Fife
Fiona Drane - Scottish Borders
Sam Weston - Website and technical expert.
Mark Calpin - Experienced Hotel Manager
Dougie Baird - Glasgow and Scotland`s West Coast.
This moved the project forward. We all agreed to move #Scotlandhour to the last Wednesday of the month. After a while it was changed to set questions.
Finally there was a structure to this Twitter project.
#Scotlandhour has grown since these early days.
The idea is the same to push our country on social media but it s now more professional thanks to the team involved and the very knowledgeable people that take part to our tourism hour.
Visits to the Scottish parliament, time on STV Glasgow and radio interviews are some of the places we have explained what #Scotlandhour is all about.
Some months we have over 500 people taking part.
I think the numbers differ by subject.
Five years on #Scotlandhour has gone from strength to strength. We have now recruited two new members to our team. Vivian and Glen will bring new skills and passion.
Five years on, we would still love you to join us on our road to promote our wonderful country.
See you on the last wednesday of the month 9pm till 10pm on Twitter.
