Second last day of our Dolomite mountain adventure.
We drove on the Timmelsjoch pass. A brilliant route between Italy and Austria. With its 2.509m / 8.232ft altitude it is one of the highest roads in Europe.We were charged a toll on the Austrian side. There is a museum here all about the history of this highway.

The border
You can only cross the pass in daylight hours from 7 am to 8 pm.My film above hopefully gives you an idea of our drive.Alan handled it well.
There are five stations--
Walkway, Smuggler, Pass Museum, Telescope and Garnet

On the pass summit you will still find the former border station of the Austrian Italian border that has been shut down and abandoned since the European union.
