Montenegro
Only ever visited the Kotor area once . During our first ever cruise. After sailing from Barcelona we passed the bottom of Italy and on to Montenegro. We arrived very early in the morning. The sun was just getting up. Stunning sail up the bay of Kotor.

Wow --It`s worth the very very early rise. We were up before 5.15. Maybe a wee bit too early. I got a row from Mrs B for spoiling her beauty sleep. Slowly we venture into the Bay of Kotor. The Cruise ship has to glide a 17 mile waterway.
Reminded me of the Fjords of Norway but I was told it was not caused by a glacier instead the Bay of Kotor has been carved by a river running from the interior to the Adriatic Sea. There are mountains either side. Around 8.00 we arrive in Montenegro. Giving us tons of time to explore the old walled town of Kotor.
Kotor has one of the best preserved medieval old towns in the Adriatic and is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is home to numerous sights, such as the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon in the old town (built in 1166), and the ancient walls which stretch for 4.5 km (3 mi) directly above the city.
Old town has cobbled street.Look out for Arms Square, Flour Square, the Maritime Museum and the square housing the Churches of St. Luke and St. Nikola.
