What a great time we had at this festival. Beer,Chicken and a umpaband. Briliant. The Rosenheim Herbstfest originated from an agricultural exhibition and has been held since 1861.

We took the train from Bad Reichenhall.The train was full of Bavarians wearing their traditional costume.We followed the crowds to the Loreto meadow. Site of the festival.
The band
It always begins on the last Saturday in August.It is known locally as Wiesn.The festival is advertised as "the likeable Oktoberfest".

We hadn`t booked seats but sat down on reserved seats. Fortunately no one claimed them.
The Dirndl is the traditional dress for Bavarian ladies. You can see waitresses wearing Dirndls in restaurants and beer festival in Bavaria. Lederhosen are the tradition attire worn by men in Bavaria. These are deerskin leather trousers and shorts. The shorts can be of various length, either above or below the knee.
