Pitlochry is another one of our favourite towns in Scotland. Great base for Hillwalking and fishing. The town lies on River Tummel. The famous Ben Vrackie and Schiehallion are closeby. It is largely a Victorian town. The railway arrived here in 1863. It remains a popular tourist resort.

Just returned from a Scottish staycation. Our last stop was Pitlochry .
We stayed at the Fishers Hotel-very nice and not too expensive.
We really only ventured up the main street. It has all the bars and restaurants
took a to walk along the banks of the river Tummel.

Pitlochry has a "fish ladder" built to allow salmon to make their way upstream of the dam to spawn. You can actually watch the fish swimming up the Ladder.
Th Blair Athol Distillery was founded in 1798. One of Scotland's oldest distilleries.I have no love of whiskey so we have never been there.
