I started off by walking along the Boulevard/A82. Passed the Auchentoshan Distillery. After a short while I reached the entrance to the Erkine bridge. You have to ignore and go further into the woods. Lusset Glen--Also known as-- The Fairy Glen. Popular children`s woods. Look out for the fairies hidden in the trees.
Next I walked through the village of Old Kilpatrick. Sad to say the weather spoiled the view of the Kilpatrick hills. Then on to the path
along the Forth and Clyde canal. This was my favourite part of today`s walk. After a short time I reach Bowling. Lovely to see the colourful boats.
There is a small harbour here. Which opens up to the river Clyde. The reason for the boat community.

Forth & Clyde Canal
The Bowline connects the Forth & Clyde Canal towpath to the wider National Cycle Network (NCN), providing virtually uninterrupted off-road access from Glasgow to Loch Lomond.
It`s now 3 miles to go. Sorry to say I didn`t really enjoy the walk till we got to the outskirts of Dumbarton. Weather was getting worse and I had to shelter at every bridge to dry off.
On the track there are signs ever half mile. The path follows the road. Passed the Milton cat and dog home. The route now heads on to Dumbarton. This part of the route you have to be careful not to go wrong way. The sign is covered by stickers and points to a housing estate. Don`t worry that is the way to go. Just follow the signs and you will get to the outskirts of Dumbarton.
You can see the famous Dumbarton Rock now. After a short walk you end up in the town centre. I decided to walk down to the river Leven.
Great views of the famous castle. From here you can walk on to Balloch on Loch Lomond but thats for another time.

Was it worth my time. Not really for me but maybe for someone that is not from the area.
I had a good time wandering along the banks of the Leven. After that I had lunch in the Counting House on the Main street.
