Oban -The gateway to the Islands. Is the name Oban always gets. I feel it`s a bit unfair as there is more to Oban than a ferry port. Saying that we used Oban as our gateway to get to the island of Mull. We have had so many special times the Scottish town. It has also has great campsite --which has cabins well worth a stay.

McCaig's Tower is a prominent folly on the hillside (called Battery Hill) overlooking Oban . McCaig’s Tower similar to the Colosseum in Rome. It is built of Bonawe granite taken from the quarries across Airds Bay, on Loch Etive, from Muckairn, with a circumference of about 200 metres with two-tiers of 94 lancet arches (44 on the bottom and 50 on top).
