I had a day free between Christmas and New Year`s eve. How should I spend my time. Well I decided to take a bus trip north. North to the Scottish town of Oban.
We picked up the bus at the top of Kilbowie Road, Clydebank at nine in morning. The day did not start well. The door of the bus would not open. When the driver fixed the door he told us we should not travel.
He said we don`t have booked return tickets and the bus could be fully booked. After much debate we decide to chance it.
The next problem was the door of the toilet was jammed shut. Was not a great start but hey ho we are off.
The weather was crap but the journey was enjoyable.
Along the lochside to Tarbet. Then straight on to Arrocher. No sign of Ben Athur. The clouds were so low.
Next point of interest- Rest and be Thankful. Great place to stop for views down the valley but no time.
Next up Inveraray. Where we stop for the toilet.
Can uncross my legs now.lol
We drive north and reach Oban 11.20. Now It is stoating down. BBC weather website said it would be dry all day in Oban. I sent a message on Twitter to tell them they were duff.
First stop in Oban was to book a seat
on the return bus home. After what the driver had told us we were working on a plan b.
At ticket office we were told only three people had booked for our bus back. I think the driver covering himself incase it was full.
Now it was time for lunch. Walk to the Wetherspoons beside the ferry terminal.
I had Haggis,Neeps and Tatties and Mrs B has the Fish and Chips. A couple of glasses of rose' and a couple of pints of John Smiths washes it to down nicely.
After lunch we battle the weather and walk along the front. Oban bay is almost a perfect horseshoe. We watch the Mull ferry travel on the Firth of Lorne beyond the Isle of Kerrera.
We walk the full length of the Corran Esplanade to the war memorial. On return we nip into Coasters.
At six we board the bus for home. I took some images but the weather did affect the quality.
