Las Vegas-- there`s only one Vegas
July 2008 we finally returned to Las Vegas . We arrived for 4 nights from our San Francisco base. The Flamingo was our home . The Flamingo is a hotel casino located on the famed Las Vegas Strip in the state of Nevada and is owned and operated by Harrah's Entertainment. It`s wonderful place to stay. People think Vegas is all about gambling. There is tons more to do but gambling is everywhere. Even seen slot machines in a rest room. |
From Vegas you can visit the World famous Grand Canyon,Hoover dam or Death Valley.

This was our first visit to Las Vegas. Remember this was when we had only two channels on our telly.Google hadn't been thought off.
Vegas was a million miles away.We had seen the city many times in films and on TV.
This trip was part of our Greyhound tour.We had sent letters to book our digs.B and b just off Fremont street.
We got off the bus on the strip. Which was silly cause it was hell of a walk in the desert heat to get to downtown.
There was many memories. The one that comes to mind was in the Golden Nugget -Downtown.As everyone know this city can make or break you.

Everyone has their favorite thing to do for free. Mine is the Bellagio Fountains. You can also enjoy the Mirage Volcano, Eiffle Tower, and the must have your picture taken in front of: “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign!
The Las Vegas Strip is one of the longest street attractions in the world. Running roughly north and south it is nearly 5 miles long.
Downtown Las Vegas
Downtown Las Vegas above is the central business district of Las Vegas, Nevada. It is the original townsite and gambling district of Las Vegas, prior to the Strip, and the area still incorporates downtown gaming. Fremont Street is a street inLas Vegas, Nevada, and is the second most famous street in the Las Vegas Valley after the Las Vegas Strip.
Named in honor of explorer John Charles Frémont and located in the heart of the downtown casino corridor, Fremont Street is (or was) the address for many famous casinos such as Binion's Horseshoe, Eldorado Club, Fremont Hotel and Casino, Golden Gate Hotel and Casino, Golden Nugget, The Mint, and the Pioneer Club.
Prior to the construction of theFremont Street Experience, the western end of Fremont Street was the picture of Las Vegas that was included in virtually every television show and movie that wanted to display the lights of Las Vegas. The abundance of neon signs, like cowboy Vegas Vic, earned the street the nickname of Glitter Gulch.

The Bellagio's lake throws up entrancing fountain displays choreographed to music from Pavarotti to Sinatra (and, less appealingly, Lee Greenwood). The 1,200 water cannons, arranged in lines and circles, shoot water that dances and sways to the music, reaching as high as 240ft (73m). The best seats are in the Bellagio restaurants, but you get a good view from the sidewalks out front, and from the top of the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas.
