Everyone has done it.Long journeys looking around while everyone else is in the land of nod.Long flights scared to ask the guy next to you to move so you can go to the toilet.I have travelled across America by Greyhound bus and Canada by Via train.It`s not all fun.While it might be unpleasant to stay up all night, it won’t have a significant impact on your overall health.

Now a days transport companies try their best to make you as comfortable as possible. Most​ adults need between 7 and 8 hour.An American set the world record of 264 hours— roughly 11 days — without sleep.

So when Flix bus started running a service between Glasgow and London.I decided to give it a go.Down overnight -A day in London-back overnight. Long day in the big smoke.I have done it before but many years ago.

Well how was it?
Let`s be honest.The main reason of the trip-- I got a bargain-- 17 quid
There are cheap fights but it costs you as much to get into centre of London. The coach goes right into Victoria.
I love train travel but bargains are few and far between.  

Going was not too bad.I had an empty seat beside me.Which helped.
​The journey is always better going than coming back.You have the adventure to look forward to.On the way back the fun is over.
As the trip went on I got more and more restless. Fidgeting and tired and no Sleep. There was snoring all around.Some louder than others.
One like a sea lion with a sore throat. 
A guy`s phone kept pinging everytime a message came in.
​Some people had their music that loud you could here it belting out of the earphones.

It was dark so there was nothing to look out to unless you like roadworks.

The journey back was bad,really bad.I couldn`t sleep and I kept looking at the clock.There was three stops and each time I had a different person next to me.From Birmingham to Manchester I had a rather large lady taking a lot of my space up.She would bellow down the bus to her daughter."are the kids sleeping".
Then when it was settling down. She announced to the bus how good it was to see her aunt again. "She`s looking good for her age".
After Manchester I got a guy that slept most of the way home.Oh when he was not playing games on his mobile.
Flix bus has a system [for ten pounds] you can have an empty seat next to you for leg room. Forget that idea.That will never happen.
Bye the time I got back to Glasgow I was knackered.​
Was it worth it. Yes I love being a tourist in London.
but take the train if possible.

I did return Feb 2025. This time I took Easyjet. Staying the night in Victoria.
