Rhu --Small but wonderful village Feb 22
Another smashing day out-- not too far from home. We left around 10.00 .Snow was predicted for the Helensburgh area. We met up with a couple who told us it was about to snow at 11.03.Bang on 11.03 a few flakes fell from the sky. Helensburgh was freeeezin but we never saw the snow again. We did have a bitter wind in our face while walking along the front in the town.
Our trip was well worth the cold weather.

We started our walk in the centre of Helensburgh. No sign of the Easter Monday day trippers. We walked passed the Commodore.Sadly not opened due to the Covid virus. Most shops and pubs were shut. There were loads of people queuing up at the barbers.First chance of a haircut in many months.

We met up with Eric and Liz at the car park at the Beachcomber Cafe bar.
A decision was made to walk to the village of Rhu .Not too far away.
We pass the Sailing club then on to the Ardencaple hotel. We are now on the Gareloch road. After a short time we end up at Rhu point.Stroll along the stoney beach to the small lighthouse. Great views up the Gareloch --Hope you like my pictures. 18000 steps
We enjoyed the walk that much we returned the following Friday.

Below is one of our favourite watering holes.
We have been going to the Ardencaple hotel for years. Most of our trips we stop here. We used to have lunch here but when The Henry Bell opened, we go there. The quality was not as good but half the price. We still stop for a drink.

We sometimes we go to the Rhu inn for a bowl of soup but not every time. Friendly pub.

Another Sunday another walk along the front at Helensburgh. Weather was brilliant. So the walk along to Rhu beach was a pleasure.
Rhu peninsula is some five miles long.
