​Another unforgettable day during our Slovenia to Switzerland Rail adventure.
It was only a short walk from our flat in St Moritz to the Central Station. Down Bahnhof strasse where our adventure began. We chose the back carriage. As you can see by the images-- we picked the open sightseeing carriage. All good fun and unrestricted views too. Great for photography.

Sit on the right side of the trainn. That will give you better views.

Th Bernina line has been awarded NESCO World Heritage Status.
This is because of engineering and manual labour  put into building this line. The amazing scenery helped too.

All aboard

Bang on time we leave St Moritz. Not long before we are enjoying the joys of our open air carriage. Rather windy with tons of fresh air.
We are on the ​highest railway across the Alps.

Switzerland by train

The train goes through the 55 tunnels. Over 196 bridges and we travel to the height of 2,253 metres above sea level. We all really enjoyed the whole experience. 

The spectacular Bernina line was completed in 1910

Mountain pass after pass.We seen more glaciers than the Glacier Express. Waterfalls and fast flowing rivers add to the scenery. .The train stopped at a lot of small alpine stations to let hikers off.

Arguably the most scenic Swiss train ride of them all

One of the highlights was the famous Brusio spiral viaduct.Great feat of engineering.Like a toy railway the Bernina travels on a circular route.After a Short time you will travelling on it and under it. Amazing.
The train now travels through the middle of small towns on route to our final destination. Tirano in Italy.
