Welcome to Rothenburg
What a pleasant surprise.---I had heard of Rothenburg. A city in Germany.
A city in northern Bavaria. Known for its medieval architecture.
So why did I like this city so much.
The minute we left our hotel we were in the old town. Stunning.
One of those places you get the travel buzz very quickly.

Where we stayed
What a lovely place Hotel Gerberhaus was. Loved the experience.
The charm of a historic house. The hotel was built in the 16th century.

We wandered the streets enjoying the colours, history and the smells of the many restaurants. We enjoyed dinner very much. There was tourists in the city but not too many as it is September.
Above is a great image of Rothenburg taken by Alan. First thing in the morning.Really good.
Watch out- there are several "Rothenburgs" in Germany. Make sure you head for Rothenburg ob der Tauber [on the Tauber River.]
Look out for General Tilly on the left, and Mayor Nusch of Rothenburg on the right <with his wine mug>. Every hour this clock tower comes alive.
These two guys come out. During the Thirty Years War Tilly wanted to burn the town to the ground and execute the towns officials. He decided the only way to save the town was---Mayor Nusch had to drink a gallon of wine in one gulp. Nusch did it forcing Tilly to spare Rothenburg from destruction and death.
