Hitler decided the town would hold the Winter Olympic games there.
That`s why the towns are joined together.
The first games that included alpine skiing .You can see the Ski jump in the hills in the distance.

Old town Garmisch-Partenkirchen fulfills all your German fantasies. Picturesque half-timbered houses display murals typical of the area.
Specail place we had for dinner
We stayed the night at the Hotel Trifthof Garni. It had friendly staff,good breakfast and good value for money. This hotel enjoys a quiet yet central location in Garmisch-Partenkirchen
Beautiful Bavarian town
We loved our time there and went to Zugspitze. Germany`s highest mountain while there. That was memorable day. I have a special webpage on the mountain.
