Rothesay -- 29th May 2021
After my second Covid jag at Glasgow`s Hyro arena-- we were off to Rothesay on the Scottish Island of Bute. We take the train to the seaside town of Wemyss bay on the Firth of Clyde.Takes around an hour.The journey is pleasant and takes you near the port.Remember to buy your ticket before joining the line for the ferry.

The Cal Mac sail takes around 30 minutes.Lovely part of our day trip.We got up the front to enjoy the views and the fresh air blowing on to our faces.
Rothesay-- for years was one of the doon the water seaside resort.Many families from Glasgow would enjoy their annual  holidays towns on the Clyde.

We started our trip by having lunch at the Black bull.We were a bit disappointed. My fish was perfect but Mrs B`s macaroni was not that great.
The pints of Belhaven best were superb.One of the customers complained because a spider landed on his dinner.They were working on the front of the bar.Must have disturbed their nest.The people got their cash back but left unhappy.

After lunch we had a browse through the local shops.Then took a long walk along the shore to Ardbeg. Great views up to Loch Striven.We had visited the castle and walked up Canada hill on past trips.So this walk was different.In Ardbeg there is an American diner .A bit like the Hard rock cafe but more like a bar you would find on Route 66.Long distance road in the United states.
I enjoyed a drink in there. We walked back on time to catch the the six o clock ferry.We didn`t want to chance a later sail.The town was busy with day tripers.

The isle of Bute has a lot more to offer but we only had a short time in the main town. Another great day out in my Scotland.
