Our thoughts are with the people of Lombardy Italy. This area has suffered coronavirus the worst in Europe. So many people have died or in a bad way.So sad. This part of the country has been special to us.
I thought I would still tell you about Lombardy.Hopefully the tourists will return to enjoy what the area has to offer.
Milan is the prime draw in Italy's most prosperous province. The Cathedral, La Scala opera house and Santa Maria delle Grazie, home of da Vinci's Last Supper, are just some of the sights. Equally fascinating is the belle poque splendor of 19th-century Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. When not on one of its frequent strikes, Milan's Metro is an excellent way to explore.I was lucky to take in a game at the famous San Siro football stadium.
Bergamo has been our base a few times.A Ryanair Hub.So we got many cheap flights here.As a town it's great to visit for a few days but if your staying there longer you have to venture further.
Lecco is in lombardy. A town on the least touristy section of Lake Como, the fiord-like eastern branch of the lake. However, the town has good public transport, good opportunities for serious mountain-walking.
The Jewel in Lombardy`s crown is Lake Como. While there you should take a ferry to Bellagio. It is that perfect small town which has just the most wonderful views across the lake to the beautiful gardens of the Villa Carlotta and spectacular mountains that sweep down to the water’s edge. It sits on a fork in the lake and has an air of quiet dignity.
Well that is Lombardy.A great part of Northern Italy.Once this terrible Virus is over you should think about a visit. The area will need tourism.
