Arthur`s Seat
Another great dayout in Edinburgh. This time we decided to have a bit of exercise.
We decided to walk to the top of Arthur`s seat. This is a hill on the eastend of the city. Great views over the capital.

Arthur`s Seat
The hill on the left rises above the city to a height of 822 ft. It provides superb panoramic views of Edinburgh. It is easy enough to climb, and is popular for hillwalking.
Helps if the weather is in your favour.

Day started with a bus journey through from Glasgow.Took about a hour and a quarter.
Next stop was M and S for a roll and bacon. Excellent
We walk down the Royal Mile to the Scottish Parliament. From there we cross the road to the gates of Holyrood Palace. Cross another road to the start of our walk.
We slowly walk to the top. Enjoying the views around. At the top you have to scramble a bit. Well worth the hike. There are lots of people up there taking pictures of the city.

The best views are to the west over looking Edinburgh Castle, Old Town and the New Town. On a good day, the Ochil Hills beyond the Forth Road Bridge and the Firth of Forth can be clearly seen.
Robert Louis Stevenson said -- "a hill for magnitude, a mountain in virtue of its bold design"
After the walk we head back into the city. First stop the Kilderkin. Which is the last/first bar on the Royal Mile. Here we have a couple of drinks and play a brick game with two guys from Malaga in Spain. Next stop was Rose street to watch Scotland v England Rugby match. Few beers. Last on our trip was the Filling Station for food. Great day out in the Capital.
