We flew into Munchen for our train adventure--Slovenia to Switzerland.During this trip we stayed at many great places. Bad Reichenhall was one of them. Great start to a great trip.
Old Town. Best explored on foot as it is mostly a car-free and bustling pedestrian zone.
Germany’s deep south, Bad Reichenhall enjoys an envious position in heart of the Alps.The ancient city of Salt.The city has the largest pedestrian area in the whole of Germany. Medieval old town has been preserved along with the castle Burg Gruttenstein (12th century).
Superb food
We did have time to have a super meal in Hunns Restaurant and in the morning I had a wander round with my camera.

Great base to visit the Eagle’s Nest in Berchtesgaden. Adolf Hitler’s famous mountaintop retreat.Also the beautiful Lake Königssee and the Austrian city of Salzburg. Historic birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

We returned to the city for six days. Staying at the Avalon hotel next to the railway station. Great hotel. It was our base to return visits to Salzburg,St Wolfgang and the Eagles nest.
