Euro Championship- Germany June 2024
We could not get tickets for any of the Scotland games. We decided to go over anyway. I travelled over with my son Andrew.
We joined up with my brother-in-law in Buchholz. Lovely small town just outside the city of Hamburg.
The flight over was fine. At night we enjoyed a few beers in Lims bar
in the town centre. We had been before. It is perfect for watching the football.

Our first full day in Germany started by taking the train in to Hamburg city centre. Hamburg Hauptbahnhof is one of my favourite
train stations. It is the most frequent passenger railway station in Germany.
We always seemed to be going somewhere exciting when we are there.
From there we took the S bahn to St. Pauli. Where the Holland and Poland fans had congregated. What a wonderful atmosphere.

We decided to make or first stop the HB bier halle. Really enjoyed it in there. Food and beer. Even a DJ playing real beer hall music.
Perfect start to our day of fun.

After lunch we walked back to the St. Pauli area. Now the area was buzzing with Dutch fans. Orange shirts every where. We wandered around and enjoyed the fun of the crowd.
We met up with Yan in the London bar. He is one of Andrews friends.
Next up we went to the Tankstele. These bars are in the famous Reeperbahn. There is the seedy side to it but most partygoers are just looking for a fun time.

Our night ended with the three of us falling asleep on the train. Missing our stop at Buchholz and ending up in Lauenbruck.
The angry Ticket collector woke us up. Demanding money for having the wrong ticket. After a shouting match we got off at the next stop.
We were now stuck in a small town with nothing open. Sad to say the next train back to Buchholz was 3.46am.
An eventful day.

Monday
A day of recovery. After last night's crazy train antics, we decided to have a rather less active time.
Alan took us a drive through beautiful countryside to the Peaceful
Village of Tüstberg. It has thatched roof cottages which date back to 1592. We enjoyed a afternoon drink in the very smart hotel.

We left Alans house in Buchholz. Nice place. Travelled by train down to Osnabrück . We were staying at the Ibis hotel Osnabrück. Right across from the station. Very handy. Our rooms were not ready so we dropped off our bags at the hotel and took the Intercity train to the city of Dortmund.
Dortmund was buzzing but with hordes of Turkey supporters this time There was a few Georgia fans too.

Dortmund is the 8th largest city in Germany. The home of Borussia Dortmund, the famous Bundesliga football team. The city was once known as a center of coal and steel production.
Day 5 19th Homeward bound
Back to Hamburg Airport for our flight back to Edinburgh.
Great time was had by all.
Thanks to Alan for the digs and Andrew for his skills on Google maps.
