Today, Culloden Battlefield is under the care of the National Trust for Scotland, and its Visitors' Centre is a huge tourist attraction.

The famous Jacobite leader Bonnie Prince Charlie took his army to Culloden to take on the Duke of Cumberland. This was the last battle to be fought on British soil.
The famous Jacobite leader Bonnie Prince Charlie took his army to Culloden to take on the Duke of Cumberland. This was the last battle to be fought on British soil.
The Jacobites fought gallantly against the British Government troops but were well defeated. The Government`s leader Duke of Cumberland`s father was King George II. This was the end of the Jacobites and their attempts to rule Scotland.
The famous wars in Scotland were not as straight forward as Scotland v England. There were Scots on both sides.
Take a walk the length of the Battlefield and imagine the position of both armies.
