The Land of great beaches--- Kintyre
Great places to visit when the sun is shining. The beaches are wonderful and if you are lucky you may get them to yourself. We nearly did.We were joined by a few dog walkers. Kintyre has lots of great wee towns and villages.
Campbeltown was our base.A famous fishing port.Because of the dreadful Corona Virus there was many restrictions. Many bars and cafes were closed and masks must be worn in all shops.
Please add Kintyre to your Scottish Bucket list.

Thursday
We went out to see the famous Mull of Kintyre lighthouse.
Sorry to say fog stopped play. The mist was so bad you could not see a thing in front of you.
After a short drive. We pass Southend and head on to the village of
Machrihanaish. Famous for it`s world class golf course.
We were there to walk the 3 -mile sandy beach. Wildlife here is abundant. As well as birds, there is a possibility of spotting seals and even the occasional otter. We saw the seals but no luck with the otters. The golf course runs side by side with the seashore.

Friday Gigha
This was a special day for us.After a hearty breakfast we drove to Tayinloan. We parked the car and travelled as foot passsengers over to the isle of Gigha.
Easy sail over to Gigha. We walked to the crossroad where we chose to go south. Most people go over for lunch at the Boathouse. We returned there in the afternoon.

A forty minute walk brings you to the south pier.A country walk.
Lookout for the local geese. got a few pics here.On the walk back we walked down to Rudhachinnhoir beach.Well worth a look. Small but white sandy beach. When we were there it was busy with families enjoying the sunshine.

Saturday Southend
Another day out in beautiful Kintyre. Short drive to Southend. Only 8 miles from Campbeltown.
Southend is a small village but we are here to enjoy the beach.
The sun is out making our walk even more pleasant.
The lifeboat station [below]was built in 1869. Almost nothing remains of Dunaverty Castle .The castle has a long and fascinating history.
At lunchtime we returned to Machrihanish. Glad we did- as we saw the town in a different light. The weather always makes a difference.
