Scotland-Thank you for such a wonderful staycation.
Well it`s been hell for everyone.So many dreams ruined. Covid has changed the world forever.Personally-- we have had so many plans cancelled.
So this summer we decided to take a Stay-cation in Scotland.14 days in my homeland.

Glencoe
Day 1 Friday
Left home very excited.The drive is always special.So many scenic spots.
First up was Loch Lomond. It is the largest lake in Great Britain by surface area.Ben Lomond can be seen towering over the loch. Once you reach Tydrum
you feel you are in the highlands.Now the mountains are getting higher and higher.We stop at a diner for lunch.
After food we drive through the Glencoe valley.One of my favourite places in the world.I have a section all about Glencoe.

Stayed one night in Fort Augustus
Dinner in the Lock inn.We sat outside cause the weather was so good. It`s right by the Caledonian Canal.
Fish and chips. We had a walk down to Loch Ness .No sign of Nessie
Fort Augustus is a lovely town.
Day2 Saturday
Had another look through the village and then off we went
Chance to see my favourite castle-Eilean Donan castle
and over the Skye bridge.

First full day in Skye. Chance to revisit some of the island`s highlights.
Few drinks in the Flodigarry hotel ==Very posh place.
Old man of Storr- Kilted falls and the port of Uig. I have webpages on website on these places.

Day4 Monday Raasay
Took the small ferry across to the island of Raasay. Great wee place.You think you are the only person on the island.Until you meet a car coming the other way.The locals know where the passing places are. Good small island-Worth the effort.

Dunvegan castle and Neist lighthouse
Castle was a castle. Well looked after.History was too heavy for me.
Nice walk round the Garden. Midgie fest.
Trip to the Neist lighthouse was special. Greatbviews -Tons of sea birds.

Day6 Wednesday
Wildlife tour --wasted time and wasted 50 quid .Seen Golden eagles through a telescope. Not our best day. Nice meal at night

Day7 Thursday Fairy pools .Not the best of weather but worth the walk.To see the waterfalls. Watch out 5 pounds to park.

Day8 Friday Engol --The highlight of my one week holiday round the beautiful island of Skye.Wonderful views over to the Cullin mountain range.

Day9 Saturday
Goodbye Skye. Today we travel across to Dornoch .We stayed in the Dornoch hotel.Bit run down but done the job. Handy for the down.Dinner in the Coach house bar.Food was good Service was bad.

We walked to Embo along the sandy beach.Went into the Caravan site for a coffee.We take road back.Not a good idea.Took a lot longer and attacked by flies.

Day11 Monday Cromarty
Nice wee port with quaint shops.Well worth a visit if you are in the area.
Nice lunch The Cromarty Arms-
Took the ferry across the Cromarty firth to Nigg. Lorna enjoyed the drive on and off the ferry.It took two cars. One boat every 30mins.

Homeward bound Stayed the night in Fort William.Not a ftan of the town but it`s a good base and starting point or finishing point of the West Highland way.Not far from Ben Nevis.Britain`s tallest mountain.

After breakfast we had a lovely walk around Pitlochry .Drive home we stopped at St Fillians.
