The evzones,or should I say the Greek Presidential Guard,stand guard over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Presidential Mansion.
Wonderful experience it was watching the evzones marching up the main street on route to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The leather shoes worn by the Evzones are red with big black pom poms. These pom poms were used to hide weapons, usually a blade, offering another means of protection for the soldier.
