From Easy Jet to Easy life
2014 changed my travel life for ever. I had spent my life flying over Europe by budget airline companies like Easyjet,Ryanair or Wizz, The cheaper flight the better. Some flights were a penny there and a penny back. When Ryanair started up-- cheap seats were their way of promoting their business. Sadly those days are well gone.
Lorna [My wife] had taken a cruise while at school. That had put her off ships for years. Three days of sickness travelling through the Bay of Biscay was Hell. Now the ships are twice the size and have stabilizers

The Bay of Biscay has always been feared by seamen.
Located in the Celtic Sea, a gulf of the northeast Atlantic Ocean. It is located in the northern coast of Spain and the western coast of France and is named after the Spanish province of Biscay.
Nowadays Drakes passage [at the other end of our planet] is the fear of all sailors or customers of Antarctica cruises.

The most forward part of a ship is known as the Bow; the left-hand side of the ship is know as the port.Right side is the starboard. Likewise, the front side is forward and the backside is the stern..

As you can guess I done most of my boat trips on my own .As time went on- my Mrs B slowly got back her courage to do ferry trips. Short trips over to the Scottish islands with Cal Mac.
Every year we heard of friends and family going cruises. I always thought it was for the posh and the rich. Nowadays the cost has came down. Still a lot of money but after a year of saving a lot of people can afford this kind of holiday. We could never afforded this if we still had a mortgage to pay.
When you add up the cost of a package family holiday plus food and drink you will find cruises [with a drinks package] are not that more expensive.

We love having a beer/cocktail at the rear of the ship. Enjoying the sun go down.
What appealed to me--- was the destinations more than the ships. Waking up in a different port every day. Wonderful cities could be within your reach.
Cruising by Venice.
2014 we took our first cruise .Wonderful experience. Seeing wonderful places.
Really enjoyed. Really enjoyed it. The entertainment was first class and to my surprise the passengers were not all rich or posh. There were no great rules of dress. If you want to dress up-- you can. Most days I wore shorts and a teashirt. That`s the way I like it.
We have only been on four cruises.
I feel, we are a bit hooked but I still want to do more adventurous hols.
Saying that-- our cruise to Alaska was right up my street.
