Alps Road trip 2017
7 day road trip round the Alps. Visiting Germany,Austria and Italy. Alan-Mrs B`s brother had planned the whole trip and what a good job he did.

Day1 Saturday
Munich Airport--Hello Germany
Flew out from Edinburgh with Easyjet.
Perfect flight. We are met by Alan at the airport.He had pickup our hired car.Alan is Mrs B`s brother.
Our first stop was at Walserburg-Süd for coffee.
We had so many coffee stops during our 7 day trip roadtrip.So many bits of cake.Destroyed our calorie count.But it was brill.
Mondsee is our first stopover. That night we searched for Mondsee lake. The stars were out and we saw a shooting star cross the sky.Great digs.

Day2 Sunday
Another Sunny day
One of the highlights of the whole trip was the next town. We visited Hallstatt in the morning.
Beautiful.
Took the lift up for great views over the lake.
Enjoyed watching the end of hunting season parade. Superb event added to our visit to Hallstatt.
We stayed the night in Seeboden. Went out for dinner. Super. I had the Trout which was perfect.
Day2 Sunday
Another Sunny day

We stayed the night in Seeboden. Went out for dinner. Super. I had the Trout which was perfect.
Day 3 Monday The Dolomites
A new day-- a new adventure. Today we drive to
the Tre Cimes. Early rise so much to see today
After a great breakfast we are off on the road again. Lovely drive through golden forrests. Soon we arrive at the National park.We were not disappointed. You have to walk to have a good view of the three stacks.
Easy enough walk but tiring in the heat.
I took 100`s of images then walked back to the car park.
After that we drive for Musorina.Then on to Niederdorf. Our next over night stay.
A new day-- a new adventure. Today we drive to

Day4 Tuesday The Dolomites
Today was my favourite day.I think the scenery done it for me.First we drove to Cortina.
Here we go through a tunnel built by the Italians
during World War 1.It was built under Austrian lines.
Round and round the road goes.
We take a gondola up the mountain.It rises to the Lagazuoi (2762 m.)
The next lift Sass Pordoi takes us to Pass Sella.
What a place for Landscape photography.Amazing.
I have travelled to many amazing places.The views here are up with best.We take a small hike to the top. Here we enjoy an Italian lady singing a song of the mountains.
Way home we stop at Ortisei for Coffee.
Drive home via Bolzano, Lana and Burgstall
to Dorf Tirol (Tirolo).
Tonight we are staying in Dorf Tyrol. That will be our home for three nights.

Day4 Wednesday
Got the crazy chair lift into the town of Merano.
Good fun I got a row from the lift operator for not getting off quick enough.
We walk to the city centre and took a bus to St Leonard. From there we go to Saulthouse and take
the Hizer gondola lift. At the top we walk for a short while and we come across a restaurant. Superb food and drink.Back in base we have dinner in the local pizzeria.
Staying in the Dorf Tyrol again tonight.

Up early- Seiser Alm is our destination today.
Got Ski lift up the mountain to the largest high-altitude Alpine meadow in Europe.
Completely different from our mountain treks.
Walked a bit and had a drink in the sunshine.
For this time of the year the weather was superb.
Staying in Dorf Tyrol for third and last night.

Day6 Friday The Dolomites
Today we take the World famous road /Pass --Timmelsjoch. Round and round-- Bend after bend.
I was in the front capturing every minute.
After that we stop to photograph the Eiger .From the Austrian side and then the German.
Tonight we stayed in Murnau .Nice town with a lovely lake.We stayed at Hotel Griesbrau. Which had it`s own brewery.And we enjoyed the beer.

After coffee and apple strudel at Airport.We say our good bye s to Alan. Lorna`s brother and our professional driver.We had done almost 1500 miles-Stunning countryside.Passed Bayern Munich football ground.
