Trafalgar Square
The Nelson Column, as it was once known, was erected to commemorate Admiral Horatio Nelson's victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805; a victory in which he died.

The City of London is a city within London. I always enjoy the buzz. People watching at it`s best. This is oldest part of London and here you can find the stunning St. Paul’s Cathedral , as well as the Tower of London . It is also here that you’ll find the iconic Tower Bridge(not to be mistaken with the London Bridge) that you’ll no doubt recognize from its many appearances in film and television throughout the years. Also in the City are fragments of the original city walls. The London parade is the biggest New Year's Day street event of its kind. The parade is used to raise funds for charities in London.The parade is also used to honour people from each borough who have been heroic in some way during the previous year.
Every year BBC London holds a competition to find two talented young musicians to travel to the United States and play with an American high school marching band, both in America and in the London Parade. The parade dates back to the 1920s to celebrate the special relationship between England and the USA.

The statue of Admiral Horatio Nelson, who was buried at St Pauls Cathedral, stands high above the traffic at Trafalgar square. Originally created to commemorate Nelson’s famous victory at the Battle of Trafalgar during the Napoleonic wars, the the statue is flanked by four bronze lions said to have been cast from the metal of reclaimed cannons from the French fleet.
