While in USA we took Amtrak from Chicago to Seattle.This is a world famous train route served by the Empire Builder. We travelled 2300 miles through some of the most breathtaking scenery in America.

Here is my journey---

On board
We had the pleasure of being on board for two nights and three days. We had a roomette on the train. I was nominated top bunk. Great fun climbing up. There was a safety harness to stop me rolling out. Not so pleasing if you need the restroom during the night.   

All meals onboard the train included with our sleeping accommodation.

We departed Union Station bang on time. Tonight train makes its way through the Wisconsin Dells and St. Paul-Minneapolis, Minnesota. 

The second day on the train 

We made many new friends and it was a pleasure spending a few hours with an Amish family.
It was their first train journey and you could see the kids were loving it. They asked us many questions about my home country of Scotland and were very open to talk about theirs.

Below is Glasgow, one of our stops named after my home city. About half way though our trip. 

The second night we sat down for dinner.We sat beside an Americain couple. After a about tens min chat our dinner arrived. The couple asked us is ok if we say grace. I said go for it mam. The guy took my hand and woman took Lorna s. I took Mrs B s and we thanked the lord for our supper and for a safe journey. Was n t that nice. It was my first since primary school. You always meet different kinds of people on your travels.

During the night the train splits [in Spokane]. One part terminating at Seattle, Washington's King Street Station (2,206 miles (3,550 km) from Chicago) in the north and Portland futher south.

The train arrives almost on time [mid-morning] in Seattle.
My wife and I would Like to thank Robb, Hillary and Rose for looking after us.
They were good fun and nothing was a problem.
