Stargazing at the Duck bay
Another venture out to Loch Lomond. This time we were there to try out Gee Bee`s new telescope.
Sunset was at 8.15pm. So we left Clydebank not long after that.Took about 20mins to get to the loch. We were going to Lomond shores in Balloch but decided to try the Duck bay first.It was all about getting away from  bright lighting.As dark as possible.It was good there was no moon about to light up the sky..

Duck bay was perfect.Very little artificial light.As the sun almost disappeared- the views up the loch were super.Great views of Ben Lomond in the distance.  

We had plenty layers of clothing but our hands were freezing.Maybe next time we will think of thermal gloves.  

Reduce light pollution

Any time you go out to look at the night sky-- take time out to give your eyes time to adjust to the darkness.About half a hour.
By then the whole sky was full of stars.It was amazing. Picking the Duck bay was spot on.

Gee Bee had assembled his new telescope by the time the stars came out.
It was all new to us stargazers but it gave us a new way to see the sky. Brought things closer.Like any new toy it will take time to get up to speed.

• When you see the stars you are looking into the past. Because light takes time to travel and stars are many light years away from us you could be seeing a star that doesn’t even exist anymore.​

It was a brilliant night. Great fun and another great time at my loch.
The sky was the highlight.We saw many constellations and Mars in the distance. The Sky never let us down.
​We got home about 11.30 but It was well worth the late night.
