Troon Roadtrip 2014
Another weekend-- Another roadtrip
This was to the Ayrshire seaside resort of Troon. We set off about 11.00 in the morning. We took the scenic route across the Erskine bridge rather than the Clyde Tunnel. The weather was duff but I had checked the forecast. BBC said Ayrshire was the only place in Scotland to stay dry.

"Troon" comes from "Trwyn", Celtic for headland or point.
The town is about 8 miles north of Ayr and 3 miles northwest of Glasgow Prestwick International Airport.
Lying across the Firth of Clyde, the Isle of Arran can be seen. Paddy`s mile stone can been seen in a clear day.

The main attractions in Troon today are the long sandy beach, many restaurants, bar diners, cafe's, and the 10 golf courses around the town such as Royal Troon. north of Troon centre is Barassie beach. This long stretch of beach and grassland does not get quite as busy as Troon’s South Beach, normally more relaxing.
