31st July
Our day started with a train trip to Glasgow city centre and onwards to Greenock. We decided to get off there and walk along the waterfront to the cruise terminal. I know it well from meeting tourists of the ships for my Tours by Locals.
We were fortunate Regal Princess was in dock. Big Cruise ship. Very Jealous of the passengers. Great views over to Helensburgh and the surrounding area.
We had lunch in James Watt pub on Cathcart Street.

After Greenock we jumped back on the train and travelled on to Gourock. The once popular seaside resort still has something to offer for its visitors. The famous Outside swimming pool is still open for the brave. It has been refurbished and has a new leisure centre. The weather was perfect when we walked past.
Its worth going to Gourock just for the walk along the front.
Have a look for Granny Kempock's stone, a 6ft monolith which reputedly brought good catches to fishermen who touched it and good fortune to brides -to-be who walked around it six times.
Walk a bit along the front. Passed the sailing club and look up on a hill.

We took the ferry that connects McInroy's Point with Hunter's Quay in Dunoon. Short trip. Just there and back. Only got off to get our return ticket. If there is two of you don't buy a return ticket on route over.
Buy 2 singles outward. At Hunters get off and go to the ticket office and buy a two ticket return. Saves you a fiver.
The journey was super. Great view
We did see some Dolphins and we had the pleasure of watching the last sea going paddle steamer in the World. The Waverly. Sail past.

The views over to the mountains is special. You can see Ben Lomond
standing proudly in the distance.
Looking south you can see the outline of the isle of Arran. Great view of the Cloch lighthouse.

We had dinner at the Spinnaker Hotel. Very good. The Cheese cake was amazing, huge and bad for your waistline.
After tea we wandered back into the town. We had time to watch the
Regal Princess sail past. Great day out on the Clyde coast.
