Another Saturday another day trip. Didn't go too far. Just about 30 minutes from my home. Blantyre is a small town and also the birthplace of the famous explorer David Livingstone. As a traveller myself it excites me to hear all about his adventures.

The museum is there to tell you all about the life and times of Livingstone.
The minute you walk through the gates you get a feel for Livingstone`s time in Africa. The tour of the building where Livingstone was born and brought up is well worth a visit. It`s also gives you a insight into what conditions people lived in Victorian times.

Over 30 years Livingstone explored Africa, travelling 29,000 miles, mapping out huge amounts of central Africa showing people where these villages were. He also discovered the source of the River Nile and a huge waterfall which he named after Queen Victoria.
The museum charts all Livingstone`s adventures in Africa. A great visual display and maps and letters from the great man.
Dr Livingstone I presume
Europe and America sent Henry Stanley to search for him. Stanley found Livingstone at Ujiji and stayed 4 months. Unable to persuade Livingstone to return to England

I have only explain a brief history of this great man.
Take time to visit the museum in Blantrye to learn a lot more.
