Barceloneta is probably the closest beach to the city
If you walk to Colom at the end of the Ramblas you have about a 15 minutes walk to the beach. There are many places to eat. Lots of Buskers to entertain you.
Beware many thieves operate on Barceloneta Beach, so always ask someone to watch your stuff while you go for a swim.
