Bavaria
Finally, I get to write about my favorite region of Germany. It has everything I love about travelling in Europe. It has some of the best scenery in the country.
Fairytale castles, wonderful food and beer and that crazy Bavarian dancing.

Let me start with the capital and most famous city. Munich or Munchen
The home of BMW and the world famous football team- Bayern Munich.
I have visited the city many times. Twice-- to enjoy the Munich beer festival. Better know as the Oktoberfest. When ever I go the city has a special atmosphere. I am sure you would like it.

The Bavarian food is not renown around the world but it is perfect to go along with a stein of the local beer. Munich has the usual eateries but I do love the traditional food to soak up the beer.

A place you must visit is Lake Konigssee. We visited while in Berchtesgaden.
Great walking in the area but the lake is the highlight. Konigssee
is said to be Germany`s cleanest lake. Only rowing, pedal- and electric-powered passenger boats are allowed on the lake. We took one across to St. Bartholomä church, originally built in the 12th century. Particularly interesting.

Kehlsteinstrasse
Nazi regime built the house on the hill known as the Eagle's Nest. It is a very impressive building. They said it was built in honour of Adolf Hitler.
He didn`t visit very often and today it has only a few original features, but it's still a grim reminder of this evil leader. Great panoramic views over the mountains. There is also a restaurant.
We returned in 2023

New for 2024 . Nuremberg. Have a look at the link below.
Nuremberg is the second-largest city in the German state of Bavaria.
Infamous for hosting major Nazi rallies (and the site for the Nuremberg trials). Where the Nazi leaders were brought to justice.
