Oban -Still cool on a rainy day.
Today we took another day trip in Scotland. Most weekends-- the first thing I do is check my weather app. Did`t look too good. In fact it looked
like we should stay home but we decided to go for it. Rain may dampen things but does not stop play.

At 10.30 we left home.I only took my small lens camera. Not the best day for photography.Nowadays- some of the mobile phones take great pictures.
Fingers crossed I might get a few for my website.

We decided to go to the west coast. Oban is the main port. Also the main ferry terminal for the Western Islands. A favourite town of ours.
From Clydebank we took fastest route to Oban. Driving along the Lochside [Loch Lomond] to Tarbet. Here the road splits. You can go either way.One via Inveraray on Loch Fyne but we stayed on the lochside road. Great views up and down Loch Lomond. Sadly Ben Lomond had it`s cloudy tammy on.
Further north we travel the higher the mountains get. Some even had pockets of snow near their summits.

At the village of Crianlarich we took the bye pass on to Tyndrum. You could go the other direction to visit the town of Killin, or on to the picturesque Loch Earn.
Tyndrum is home of the famous Green Welly pit stop. A Bikers magnet.
There are other places to eat in Tyndrum. Which are cheaper and less busy.
The road splits again --North to Glencoe and on to Fort William.

We go west. Oban is well signed posted. On our route we pass by Loch Awe. Great views over to Kilchurn Castle. We are now in the shadow of Ben Cruachan. The next highlight is the Connel bridge and the famous Falls of Lora. Then onto Oban. Today was more about the journey than the visit.
We parked on the front and enjoyed the walk to the Corryvreckan bar for lunch. The pub is named after the Corryvreckan whirlpool.Which is between the islands of Jura and Scarba. Because of the Covid restriction we had to download the app to order food.Which was fun. When Mrs B went to do a bit of shopping I ordered beer to my table.Easy, quick and fun.
After lunch we wander through the harbour and watch the Calmac ferry leave for Mull.Brought back many great memories of our times on the Island.
The weather is not being kind now.We take a walk through the town and along to the Oban War Memorial. Sculptures of Highland infantrymen commemorating Oban's fallen during times of war.We have done this walk many times but still enjoyable watching the ships leaving port and the seabirds flying across the sea.

We only had a short time in the town but i am sure we will return soon.Hopefully for more time.
