Wonderful times on the river Rhine.
The river Rhine source is in the Swiss Alps and flows north all the way to the North sea.Passing through Switzerland,Liechtenstein,Austria,Germany,France and Holland.The most famous cities on the river are Basel,Strasbourg,Basel,Dusseldorf,Cologne and Rotterdam.We have visited only visited Cologne and Dusseldorf but hopefully see a few more soon.

My times in Cologne and Dusseldorf have been special.
We visited Cologne`s most famous attraction.The famous Gothic cathedral.
Also walked over the Hohenzollern Bridge over the Rhine.Dusseldorf was more party time but we did take time out to enjoy a walk along the banks of the river.

Our journeys on the Rhine included a boat trip in 1982.Hence the photograph of Mrs B on the boat. We travelled between the towns of Boppard and Bingen.
It took about four hours.The highlight was passing the famous rocks of the Lorelei.A UNESCO World Heritage Site.Story is ---A mermaid called Lorelei lives on the rock and lures fishermen to their death with her singing.

The images below are of our boat trip in 2013.We were based in the picturesque town of Meersburg. Which is on the banks of Lake Constance (known as Bodensee in German).

The car ferry between Meersburg and Konstanz (for cars, bikes, pedestrians). Runs several times an hour from 06:00 until 24:00, and once an hour from 00:00 until 06:00.
Great fun when the roof lowers to fits it`s way under the bridges.It`s possible to do a-- Germany, Austria, and Switzerland ferry trip in one day.
