I arranged this trip to celebrate our Ruby Anniversary. 40 years since me and Mrs B got married. We flew over with Loganair and stayed at Islay Hotel in Port Ellen. Great place to stay. Our room had brilliant views from back and front windows.
Saturday
As our flight was early in the morning- we had plenty of time to explore. We decided to walk to the Singing Sands. Easy walk around the bay.Passed the Port Ellen Distillery.Up a country road till you spot the sign say Singing Sands this way.Watched the geese fly by. Turned left and walk towards the famous Lighthouse.Or should I say two lighthouses.

The Singing Sands are situated on Islay’s Oa peninsula. It is a secluded beach with clear blue water. Lovely golden sands. The beach is called this
due to noise made when your feet move over the sands. We had no joy hearing any singing. We were told it needs to be the right conditions.

The lighthouse was built in 1832 by Walter Campbell.Who was the Laird of Islay. In memory of his young wife, Lady Eleanor Charteris.

Sunday
Started the day with large breakfast.Hotel has not let us down.
We walked the other way. Along Charlotte street to Rubha a Chuinnlein Peninsula. Sad to say the weather had turned for the worse.
Thought we might have seen Northern Ireland but visibility was poor.
We kept walking along the coast. Seabirds and fresh air. Typical cliff walk.

Monday-- Tonight we fly home.As we didn`t need to depart till late we took the local bus to Bowmore. The biggest town on the island.Another Whisky heaven. We walked the Gaelic centre for a light lunch.
Great views over to the Island of Jura.
We take the bus backed to the Airport for our 25 minute flight.
There was only six passengers and we had to sit in the middle of the plane to keep the plane balance.
