Edinburgh--- the capital of Scotland
Nothing I love better than taking the train through to Edinburgh. Once you arrive at Waverley station you walk out to the sound of the bagpipes. You feel as if you have arrived in the capital city of a special country.
Sometimes we walk up the Royal mile and look at the many tourist shops. If with the guys then Rose street is good for a few beers. Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Edinburgh has the most listed sites in the UK outside of London, with more than 4,500 buildings making the list.
The city hosts the annual Edinburgh Festival, a group of official and independent festivals held annually over about four weeks beginning in early August. The number of visitors attracted to Edinburgh for the Festival is roughly equal to the settled population of the city. The best-known of these events are the Edinburgh Fringe, the largest performing-arts festival in the world; the Edinburgh International Festival; the Edinburgh Military Tattoo; and the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Other annual events include the Hogmanay street party and the Beltane Fire Festival. Edinburgh attracts over 1 million overseas visitors a year, making it the second most visited tourist destination in the United Kingdom.

The historic centre of Edinburgh is divided in two by the broad green swath of Princes Street Gardens. To the south the view is dominated by Edinburgh Castle, built high on the castle rock, and the long sweep of the Old Town descending towards Holyrood Palace. To the north lie Princes Street and the New Town.
The West End includes the financial district, with insurance and banking offices as well as the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.
The Old and New Towns of Edinburgh were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 in recognition of the unique character of the Old Town with its medieval street layout and the planned Georgian New Town, including the adjoining Dean Village and Calton Hill areas. There are over 4,500 listed buildings within the city, a higher proportion relative to area than any other city in the United Kingdom.

Hogmanay
A special time to visit Edinburgh is Hogmanay. Visitors from all over the world come to see how us Scots celebrate New Year`s eve. There is always great demand for the Princess street party. With fireworks and top acts playing on the stage. I had the pleasure of taking party in the torchlight parade.
