Cinque Terre
Another wonderful part of Italy. Known as the Five Lands. Five brightly coloured villages in five stunning bays. Each one with their own identity. Tourists can enjoy the scenery. Walk through the towns or hike the paths. You will love the local atmosphere.
July 2014 we returned to Cinque Terre. We were on a cruise ship and docked at La Spenzia. We could have went to Florence or Pisa but we chose to visit the five lands again . The Last time it was heavy rain. This time it was a bit better but there were no boats out due to the high winds.

Cinque Terre the Five Lands
Italy plans to severely reduce the number of tourists visiting the Cinque Terre UN world heritage area this summer because the rugged coastal area risks being wrecked by coach parties and cruise ships.
About 2.5 million tourists poured into the picturesque park in north-west Italy’s Liguria region last year to visit the five small fishing villages, which are connected by narrow cliff side trails.

Riomaggiore is a pretty small village, so walking around on foot shouldn't cause a problem (there are a lot of steep hills and steps, so it can get a little tough on the legs after a while).
The Five Lands
Monterosso is the fifth village and the most touristed, since it boasts a proper beach and is home to several larger, fancier hotels. Like the other villages, it is a shining gem along the sea.

Manarola is built on a high rock 70 metres above sea level, is one of the most charming and romantic of the Cinque Terre villages.
Corniglia
Corniglia is the third village and the highest: it is placed on a steep promontory, with two exclusive small beaches at its sides. Like the other villages, it is a shining gem along the sea.

Vernazza is the fourth town heading north, has no car traffic, and remains one of the truest "fishing villages" on the Italian Riviera.
Hope my images give this area justice. The Five lands are special.
