Nothing to beat a bit of sunshine in winter time. Also a cheap flight cheers you up.
We flew with Ryanair-- Prestwick to Girona . There is a bus awaiting the flight to take you to Barcelona North bus
station. Bus cost 25 euro`s return. From there we got a taxi to our hotel [10 euro`s]. When costing a break away you have always got to think of the extra`s. Remember even with a normal priced flight you have to get to and from airport.
We booked the Barcelo Raval hotel through Hotel.com . Great price for such a cool place .

On the roof there is a 360 degree viewing platform and bar which is only open in the summer months.
La Rambla
We arrived in Barcelona late evening . Only time to throw our bags in to our fab hotel and head out to see what Barca had to offer. We decided to have some Tapas at a local restaurant. Cool place- whose owner was from Pakistan. Bar man was from Bangladesh and waiter from India. All great friends. Barcelona is that kind of multi-cultural-led city.

Casa Mila , also known as La Pedrera , meaning the 'The Quarry'). It was the last civil work designed by Gaudí and it was built between the years 1906 and 1910.
It was commissioned in 1912 by businessman Pere Milà Camps and his wife Roser Segimon i Artells.

Sunday 8th Feb
I had the pleasure of watching the St Eulalia parade pass along La Rambla.
Barcelona marks the Feast of St Eulalia by having as winter festival with a big display of folk culture The parade is packed with giants, big-heads, dragons, devils, sardanes (a traditional ring dance), castells (human towers),puntaires (lacemakers) and lots of other figures and activities rooted in tradition.

After watching the parade we head down to the docks and on to the sandy beach.
At night we have dinner in the Hardrock Cafe.

Monday -Our last day
We decided to take the Port Vell Aerial Tramway. It crosses Port Vell, Barcelona's old harbour,up to the Montjuïc hill.
The whole trip takes about 8 minutes and the views are stunning.

Montjuïc is a broad shallow hill with a relatively flat top overlooking the harbour, to the southwest of the city centre. The eastern side of the hill is almost a sheer cliff, giving it a commanding view over the city's harbour immediately below. We had a few drink s in Montjuic el xalet.
